Lactation Support

My Lactation Mentor

I’m very passionate about providing families with continuous, personalized care through birth and postpartum, and being able to support them through whatever challenges or concerns may arise. In order to offer a broader spectrum of support and more comprehensive care, I have decided to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

I will be shadowing Erin Chapman in order to complete the 500 hours of directly supervised lactation specific clinical practice that is necessary to become an IBCLC. Erin and I have been friends since 2020 and together have supported over 500 families through birth, postpartum, and/or lactation support.

Erin’s Lactation Offerings

  • Doing a prenatal breastfeeding education session is extremely impactful— (1) it gives your a chance to meet Erin and connect prenatally so if and when you need support once baby arrives you are able to hit the ground running and (2) it can be hard to learn and absorb information in the freshly postpartum period so taking a chance to set a general foundation of knowledge and best practices before baby arrives really sets you up for success.

    Topics include:

Interactive instructions & demo of latch & positioning

    “Golden Hour” preparation

How to know if baby is "getting enough"

A “road map” of breastfeeding so you can better understand hour one, day one, week one and what to expect

    Flange fitting

    Pump and bottle feeding q&a

This visit happens in Erin’s office space in Berkeley and is usually 1.5 hrs long.

    $350 (verify insurance for coverage)

  • Private in-home postpartum visits includes:

Review of mother and infant medical history

Observation of a feeding and often a weighted feed

Help can include: positioning, latch, nipple care, nipple healing techniques, pumping demonstration

Discuss ways to make sure your infant is “getting enough”

Discuss normal infant feeding patterns and expectations

Creation of clear care and feeding plans

Resources, videos, and referrals as needed

Notes: visit includes one week of follow up email support

Follow up visit recommended. They are the same price, duration, and offer another week of email support.

    $350 (verify insurance for coverage)
